Author's Notes: Part 1 of On Cas and Christmas can be found here. This is still part of my first Supernatural fic ever, and my first fic in many years, so feedback is much welcome! And please let me know if there are any grammatical mistakes, or if it's choppy or generally unreadable. I've gone over it enough that I'm tired of looking at it, so hopefully it's not as terrible as I think it must be! Please note that the title of this fic is taken from Oscar Wilde's quote, "The public have an insatiable curiosity to know everything, except what is worth knowing."
Also: This is a holiday/Christmas related fic, but I am not Christian. I apologize if this fic makes you uncomfortable because of this!

I don't CARE if your original story about vampires isn't getting enough attention on Fictionpress or Facebook. That does NOT give you the right to post it on Fanfiction.net in the "Beauty and the Beast" section. Fanfiction.net is for fanfiction ONLY, and posting your own original fiction there is a violation.

I left a review stating such, and also reported you and the story was taken down.

Writing to me claiming that it's okay for you to post original fiction on FF.net because "other people have done it," and that you did it to get more attention for your story, and you picked BATB because it's a small section and you thought more people would notice your story, and then going on to REPOST the story in the same section...FAIL.

If you want attention and reviews so much, maybe I'll get all my BATB friends to review saying your story DOES NOT BELONG THERE! Would the message get through to you then? Or would you just squee at having a lot of reviews, regardless of what they say?

EDITED TO ADD: I just looked again, and realized your original story was NOT removed; it's still there, on page 2 or 3. The brand-new story of yours at the top of the section is not a repost - it's a SEQUEL!!!!!! Seriously, how much chutzpah do you have?

Pixel has been found! I looked out the back door this morning while my coffee was brewing, and saw him peeking out from below our neighbor's house. Went out, petted his ears, then scooped him up protesting and carried him into the house.

Called my roommate to let her know just as she was making copies of a "Missing" poster at the local Kinko's. :) Happy endings for the win!

First of all, I'd like to rec, like, EVERYTHING that's been posted to hoodie_time's Dean-focused hurt/comfort fic challenge so far. I totally have to make a fic challenge rec post at some point, (after we have a few more entries, maybe) but for now I'll just point you in the direction of the fic challenge tag, where you can see everything that's been posted so far.

But seriously, I've loved all the fics that have come out of this challenge so far. There are so many talented people in this fandom I can't believe it. ♥

Also, if you missed it, afterthecold, a multifandom hypothermia comm, is currently hosting a comment fic and prompt challenge, which looks like it's going to be great!

Essential For Safety by pdragon76 (hospitalization, mental illness, post-hell issues)
Author's notes/summary: Written for the spn_hurtcomfort Christmasy comment-fic meme prompt - Gen, post-Hell. Dean is in hospital (concussion? head injury?) Due to some heavy outbursts, the psychiatrist has him restrained and a guard set up. Sam and Dean 'celebrate' Christmas and Sam tries to take his mind off the fact that he is bound to the bed.

My notes: I love a good post-hell Dean fic, and this is definitely that. I want to go back in time and make this scene happen! Really poignant and lovely.

liberate tutame ex infernis by rivkat (psychological issues)
Author's notes/summary: Lucifer offers Sam some home truths. Starts after The Curious Case of Dean Winchester. Loosely based on the prompt from giandujakiss: insecure and selfless Dean (selfless in the literal meaning - no sense of self), and protective Sam, and first time. But probably angstier than she meant. NC-17, Sam/Dean.

My notes: I've always been interested in Dean's self-image issues, which this deals with expertly. The language used is so rich and solid besides, that I just want to eat it up! This is also one of the best portrayals of Lucifer I've read in the fandom.

Author's notes/summary: Dean hates cherry-flavored cough syrup, but he'll drink it when he's sick because Castiel bought it for him. G, Dean/Castiel.

My notes: I think this one could totally be interpreted as gen too if you swing that way. Anyway, it's super-cute! Just he thought of Castiel buying cough syrup is awesome/hilarious to me.

Author's notes/summary: The Impala is stolen during a snowstorm. Hurt!Pained!Dean. PG-13, gen.

My notes: The writing here is exquisite, bright and crisp. I appreciate how the scenario the boys find themselves in here – stranded without a car or hotel in the middle of a snow-storm – is pretty dire, but the writing lends this fun, adventurous vibe to it.

Misery by xxamlaxx (cold/flu, fever, injury)
Author's notes/summary: Castiel likes to take care of Dean when he's hurt, but then he starts to like it too much. Warnings: angst, dark themes, blood. 2,000 words. R, Dean/Castiel.

My notes: This is wonderfully descriptive, and creepy in this amazing, slow-building way.

Meta/picspam:

Dean + Food = thinky thoughts & picspam by ash48 (psychological issues)
My notes: This is a great piece of meta with an accompanying picspam I thought some of you might be interested in. There's a lot of weechester fics out there where John gets delayed on a hunt or whatever and the money runs out and wee!Dean goes hungry while trying to provide for wee!Sam, etc., etc. This is a storyline that I sometimes buy and sometimes don't, but I can definitely see where it comes from. I think it makes sense that there's SOMETHING like that behind Dean's obsession with food, and this was an interesting read for sure.

I've been too busy running around NYC to do much reading or to make a proper recs post, but I've bookmarked a few of my favorite stories at my AOOO page. As always, I'm kind of boggle by the variety of great fic that Yuletide produces every year. I suspect that I'll be reading for weeks to come.
